A punch table is draped with a cloth ornamented with designs of aluminum leaf on a white background, which more or less represent the private life of a quiet nature lover.
The public is served from the punch bowl. The table is wobbly so that unintentional spills and stains caused by people approaching the table for a drink will affect the design, especially over time. After one, or several, such events, I will go over the design, patching and re-working it where stained and damaged. The installation will move from venue to venue, accumulating a record of the interactions. This tablecloth could become a wall piece at some point, either whole or in sections.
My intention is that the tablecloth will be a process piece paralleling the experience of a person going to social events, presenting himself, and undergoing processes of change through the experience of social interaction.
